Loved it Hardline is undeniable and the rest of the singles are all home runs. I haven’t made a personal connection to all the songs in one listen to be able to point out specific things from each that I love, but Ziptie reminded me of excerpts from The Mistake and The Silence from Manchester Orchestra in the best way.
It’s so wild how the tables turned and Phoebe is the bigger artist now haha. Surreal to think about that when she opened for Julien on two tours (I’m counting boygenius where she played before Julien each night)
The first JB show back is gonna be so sick especially because I won’t have to whisper sing the whole time anymore
only song on this I don't really connect with is "Highlight Reel", the rest is absolutely phenomenal. my favourite album from her so far
It's gonna take a few more listens for me. I will love this. No doubt in my mind. But there's a lot to process. It's strangely not as immediate as her previous work for me after the very first listen.
What do you mean this didn't get BNM???? Julien Baker: Little Oblivions Also lmao @ misspelling her first name in the strapline
going into this one pretty much blind after saying I wouldn’t listen to anything more than the first single. and uh holy shit!
I've got no business praying I'm finished being good Now I can finally be okay In not the way I thought I should
I didn’t notice it when it was first released and have still not noticed it on every subsequent listen.
I listened as I was grading papers so I was only half focused. I wish there was a little more variety in the song structure/sound, because the whole thing kinda washed over me without any particular song making me pause and look at the name. JB is definitely a lyrics artist, so I assume I will enjoy it more when I sit down with them/on repeated listens.
Please don't hate me but I'm not too crazy about Turn Out The Lights as a whole. This blows it out of the water for me and I'm only on track 5. The last section of Crying Wolf is incredible.
Yeah, there’s that interview where she said she where she wanted it to sound like the drums were performed by a non-drummer which is funny given how solid the drumming is on this record
