This full band sound really suits Julien's voice. I hope this record makes me jump onto JB bandwagon again. Turn Out the Lights was too emotionally heavy to make it a regular listen.
a new song she performed live a few times. Looks like the song title was changed from Mercy to Song in E.
I’m still holding out on the new song, but I don’t really have the issues understanding her on Faith Healer that others seem to. Maybe in the first verse, but thats it.
The first verse is what I was talking about. It just takes repeated listens with lyrics for me to fully understand what she is saying. It doesn't make the song worse or anything (for me at least).
Yeah that’s fair. Generally that sort of thing doesn’t bother me too much but I can see how it’s a turn off for some.
As someone who isn’t a big fan of The Star Killers / Forrister, I was very hesitant with the full-band announcement. Well, I was wrong. I think I like these two new singles more than some solo Julien, so that’s REALLY saying something. Absolute fire.
wow I might actually like a Julien Baker record for the first time with this one. dig both the songs released so far and think the more full band approach does wonders to add intrigue to her music for me.
I’ve always liked never loved her solo stuff which I know is sacrilege around here, but I adore boygenius. This is immediately a top five song of hers for me. Can’t wait for the record.
I'm currently sobbing to "Song In E" on the KEXP performance and wow everything I've heard today is just lovely and wonderful and wow.
