Just bought a ticket to see her open for Bon Iver in Milwaukee with @maryp1603 and another friend who is driving us there and back! I am very excited to see Julien again so soon!
love this, when I scrolled down and saw "100 Dollars" I thought 'huh weird choice for Manchester Orchestra' but then I read the explanation and realised it was totally on brand for Julien
So great at Summerfest. She seemed a little nervous though. I also noticed she had a couple of cuts on her face, a really big one over her eyebrow. Assuming it has something to do with her cancelling dates. I hope she is doing ok.
Some of us have noticed that something has been off with her for a while. It’s obviously all speculation but there are signs pointing to something being up. She’s also changing lyrics to some of her songs. I hope she’s okay as well and gets help if she needs it.
Not dismissing other things and possibilities that could be private matters, but there has been a group of artists who obviously lost someone close in Scott from Frightened Rabbit.
I don't know if this is the one they're talking about, but around the time boygenius went on tour, she changed "I'd never do it, but it's not a joke" to "Maybe I'd do it, but it's not a joke" in Turn Out The Lights. There might be more that she's changed more recently, but that's the one that sticks out to me the most
She also changed “Watch the poison leak from your pores, think all the liquor's gonna keep you warm” to “Watch the poison leak from my pores, think all the liquor's gonna keep me warm” from Sour Breath at the House of Vans show last week. Obviously it’s her personal life, she can go through her struggles in private, and I sincerely hope she’s ok, but changing lyrics alluding to alcoholism and s****de is something people will definitely pick up on.
In ‘Rejoice’ she has changed the line of “I think there’s a God” to “I know there’s a God” Sometimes she still uses “He” and other times she uses “They” for what I assume is her attempting to not gender God to her audience.
This has nothing to do with Scott. His death was very tragic and I'm sure Julien grieved for a while after learning the news of his death, but it's been long enough now that it just doesn't line up for her grieving to be the cause of what people believe to be something off about her. Obviously you never fully heal from the death of someone, but I just don't think that's why she seems "off".
This is a public forum about her. A forum where people can and do voice their thoughts and opinions. It's evident that all that is being said is purely speculation and nothing more. No one is publicly saying "something is wrong with Julien", we're saying that something "seems off" with her, which is different. We may be wrong, and that's fine, but as fans we are allowed to comment on how a person acts or seems.
Well hopefully she has a good support system in place to help her through when she needs. All her fans seem very supportive and understanding from what I’ve seen.
Weirdly defensive No one is saying you can’t do this, but it’s a weird look. Imagine if she found this and was reading a bunch of strangers publicly pick apart her body language and other vagueries, no matter how well meaning those strangers may be
it just feels incredibly weird. Like, I would feel like shit if I came onto a forum and see people speculating about my mental well-being because of body language/changed lyrics on stage. It just seems strange and unnecessary and not helpful at all.
The level of entitlement in this statement is absurd. Just because she puts her music out there for you to listen to, does not mean you have any right or reason to speculate over her personal life.
I mean, people do have the right to speculate, she is a public figure after all. However, I will say for the sake of this thread it may be a good idea for me and others to stop.
