damn this LP, Foxing, Porches, and Cursive all in the same day. We're eating good.

Kinda surprised this band isn’t bigger on here, they’ve been blowing up

Makes me feel so out of touch lol I had no clue they were well known at all outside of places like r/shoegaze or RYM but they have a bigger spotify following than DIIV now (700K vs 500K)

Really like this after my first listen. Grungy, noisy, some parts that go into slowcore. Love the combo of their vocalists too.

Listened to this yesterday and I think it was track seven that really blew me away

Listening now and really digging it. I wouldn't really consider it shoegaze, though it does have some of those elements, but I'm really enjoying it.

They'd make a good pairing with Wishy.

I actually agree with this, it feels mostly just like a good fuzzy alt rock record more than an explicitly shoegaze one

It has some of those shoegaze textures for sure, and it kind of makes sense to glom onto that label since it's having a moment right now, but "good fuzzy alt rock" is a more-fitting descriptor.

Along the same lines, some of the instrumentation reminds me of Silversun Pickups who also got the shoegaze tag but are more just a good fuzzy alt rock band.

On this track now and it's a definite standout.

This is a damn fine cup of coffee.

  15. Yeah I got baited by the shoegaze tag in another place as well. It feels more like the grungy rock stuff that Topshelf Records or Run For Cover would put out in the early 2010s

It feels as shoegazey to me as most of the other bands getting that label right now, but with the main difference being that the songwriting feels a lot more grunge influenced than bands like Wishy, which sound a lot more informed by later 90s and 2000s alt rock than anything earlier than that. Either way, record rules and this probably has the best sounding guitars I’ve heard all year.
