The SOPHIE pickup at the start got me choked up, fucking hell. Album release coincides with the fifth anniversary of her tragic death so it hits even harder.

I was thinking this exact thing last night while listening to them. I'll be chugging some non-alcoholic beers this Friday night for sure though

 

i am not familiar with that band outside of this from Hanif Abdurraqib

it's very good

 

Great Depression and Fear Fear Fear might be a little more palatable at this point but everything is great

I am unable to get the folk-punky early Joyce Manor out of my head right now so maybe now's the time at the ripe old age of 31 to get into other folk-punk (that isn't AJJ).

That's to say, Defiance, Ohio is a great rec for me thanks Joyce Manor + thread

 

Speaking of folk punk, I’ve recently gotten really into The Volatile Utopian Real Estate Market by Pat The Bunny and I recommend it.

 

Midwestern Minutes and Great Depression are stone cold classic albums from my youth

Awfully short review for a paywall. Hmm. Anyway, here's a basic summary:

They said it's good. Full of pop-punk charm without the cringe (more or less) and that Johnson's quote about "Well Whatever It Was" going hard on a Shrek soundtrack could apply to most of the songs here. The Opossum is apparently in a similar vein to AMFASD.

Edit: I lied, I’m officially going to wait until tomorrow. Everyone talking about beer made me want to pick some up tomorrow for my first listen.
