I was referring to Cody in the latter part of my response (thinking Cody, as a title, might somehow reflect that hesitant-to-age theme). I actually love symbolism and all that stuff (I currently am an English major lol), but a lot of times people (or my lit classes, rather) tend to overanalyze small details and put meaning on things that have no inherently deep meaning. I'm guilty of it, too. And yeah, I was mostly joking about the dog on the cover haha. Now what if this is actually a concept album and the dog is the protagonist in all of the songs, and we're really in the dog's head the whole time?
I feel ya, I'm an English major too. I don't think there's such a thing as overanalyzing if you can support it. That's part of the subjectivity of it all. But this is coming from someone who tends to do just that, so take that as you will. That dog would have a way wilder life than I do, kudos to them haha
oooh. I interpreted that as part of that codependency rearing its head -- you don't think you can do anything right, so you project those feelings to this person who you're subjecting to the same dependency. and then secondarily like "be careful, don't get hurt because i don't know what i'd do then" or whatever. idk there's really nothing there or nothing else there that would make me think this is a dog
That's how I interpreted it also, since it follows the part where he lists the things he can't do on his own( plus 26, living with parents).
the dog's name isn't cody. they said in an interviiew its name is cheesecake or something. they've never met it.
Well, that concert was fucking awesome. It was a little weird at first with just how fast the songs were going by, but at the same time, they were performed so damn well. Crying and Hotelier were awesome and pretty awkwardly funny, as well. Barry might not chat much with the crowd, but you can tell he's having a great time.
That show was wild. It's awesome that the new album just came out and everybody is already singing every word to the new tracks
I can't really get into this album overall. I really like Fake ID, Angel In The Snow and Do You Really Want To Not Get Better... but I really don't care for Make Me Dumb, Over Before It Began, Reversing Machine or Stairs ::: maybe the album isn't for me
i'm gonna start a makeshift garage rock band with Cody as my biggest influence for this project and i'm gonna call the band Cheesecake who's in
Really into this record, more so than their last one! It's definitely more my speed, good power pop jams.
I think this is my favorite album of theirs! They were so good the other night. Production is kind of muddy but that's a minor knock
Also "Do You Really Want To Not Get Better" sounds just like something by like City and Colour or Daphne Loves Derby
