I'm getting some no use for a name vibes from the closer. Actually anyone who likes this album should check out hard rock bottom, def in the same vein
im not just saying this because nate is on that track, but that melody seriously sounds like the format
The instrumentation on Eighteen (until the chorus) kind of sounds like if Pinegrove went in a little harder direction. I dig it.
these guys kind of wear their influences on their sleeve but its in a way thats still interesting and wholly *them,* compared to similar bands like uhhhhh idk, BEACH SLANG, joyce manor are actually NOT one trick ponies and are able to make consistent but unique music album by album. sry for shitting on beach slang for you fans out there but i think theres a comparison to the way joyce is able to be three dimensional in this genre while beach slang have stagnated before they really even got anywhere.
I like this, I don't love it yet or anything but I'll listened maybe 5 times so far. The length really lends itself to multiple listens. It's probably the first Joyce Manor album that's stuck with me past first listen. I don't know if I'll love it eventually but it definitely seems like an album I could throw on for an easy listen quite often.
I'm feeling like a little kid on Christmas with all these releases today. October is the month of music we need but do not deserve.
Not that it really matters and it's still early but it has a lower score on metacritic than NHA and Of all things...
