I would just like something better on the whole than 40 oz was tbh. it's a fine album but the step down is there.
I'll probably get some flack for this, but: Joyce Manor is a weird one for me because I consider them one of my favorite bands, but the last three albums have all been good, but not great for me. I'll be totally blown away by a few songs, but then there are also some that just do nothing for me. I even made a playlist combining the songs I really liked from the last 3 LPs, and it's just 21 songs. All that said, I still get absurdly excited for any hint of new Joyce Manor.
cody is probably the one i listen to most even if it isn’t their best/my favorite of theirs. has some songs i don’t care about at all but some perfect songs too.
Listened to S/T, NHA, Cody all while mowing the lawn yesterday. All still and will forever kick all the ass
MDTKM is their weakest album (although I wouldn’t say it’s bad by any stretch), but Big Lie is probably in my top three songs by them.
Cody is 100% their best album imo. only other one in contention with it for me is S/T. I get that everyone worships NHA, and it’s a really good record, but I just don’t have that kind of relationship with it. I think so much of what they went for on that record they improved on significantly with Cody.
NHA just came out at the exact right time in my life, so that will always be one of my all time favorite albums. That said, I don’t really disagree with anyone arguing that others are better, which just speaks to how insanely consistent this band has been.
Baffled at the idea Million Dollars is worse than 40 Oz, half of which sounds like reheated leftovers. (is it because people don't like the quiet songs? they're wonderful.) hell, the faithful OMD cover is probably the best thing on it.
