As someone who never listened to them before, I really loved this. "Don't Try" and "Gotta Let It Go" are fantastic.
Yeah, I shouldn't be surprised but MDTKM didn't leave a huge impression on me so I think I had low expectations. I love this. Feels like it manages to blend their older and newer sound pretty seamlessly. (Ironically, I revisited MDTKM immediately after this album and really enjoy it now lol). I don't know h ow anyone could not fuck with "Gotta Let It Go" or "Dance With Me" Joyce Manor Cody 40 Oz. to Fresno MDTKM NHA OATIWSGT
I find the verse and chorus lyrics of dance with me a little cheesy but the bridge absolutely salvages it from a lyrical perspective
I only like NBTSA, Don’t Try, Gotta Let It Go, and Did You Ever Know? … so Cody still reigns supreme for me.
Album is sick! I genuinely appreciate that it doesn't overstay its welcome and the songs are concise/to the point; far more impactful as there's literally no filler imo.
It was probably the best Joyce set I could have asked for tbh. Only thing that sucked is someone yelled for Stairs And they started it and then said they didn't know how lol
Also not that I expected it but could have used at least one song from Of All Things they even are selling a shirt with the title on it haha
Lol they must have practiced they played it in full at the Brooklyn show. Said it was the first time in like 5 years
They played 20 songs, went off stage, then played another 4 for the encore (including trying to take requests, and Barry kind of attempting Violent Inside). All in all, 56 minutes. So awesome, haha.
