Extremely excited for this. Definitely one of my favorite artists, and I'd put him way up towards the top of the list of greatest songwriters going right now. New song sounds great.
So pumped for this album! I remember him playing "Showboat" before Sermon was released and was a little bummed it didn't make it to that album -- glad it found a home on the new one! Josh also workshopped/previewed some of his of new stuff at a few shows few earlier this year. That one song "Dreams" he mentions in the NPR segment was especially gripping. Dude is too good.
Oh man. I'm very ready for this. Love the new single. I got into him early last year with his last record. Going back through his discog has been a real treat!
This is more standard issue Josh Ritter than his last record, which I thought was really bold and groundbreaking for him, but there are still some incredibly great songs.
That's really interesting to hear. Some of these were written the same time as the stuff on Sermon, so my guess was it'd be Sermon part 2 (which would've been fine also, but I'm glad it'll be different enough).
Definitely enjoyed this on first listen as well. The upbeat tracks were very immediate and I am sure the slower ones will grow on me
This was a little more subdued overall than I was expecting but I enjoyed it quite a bit. I can't wait to spend some more time with this.
This is really great. He kept some of the pop stuff from the last record and swung back toward his sweet spot at the same time. Great little tightrope walk.
