Today is a great day to share the new music video from Joseph Luca, featuring The Pocket Queen, called “One Last Dance.” On this heartfelt song about the pitfalls of putting too much into a one-sided relationship, Luca’s breathtaking vocals lend themselves well to the theme here. Luca shared, “‘One Last Dance’ acts as one last romantic gesture to breathe life back into a relationship teetering on the edge of ruin. Throughout your trilogy of EPs, you’ve explored the highs and lows of relationships and the human experience. How do you balance introspection and personal storytelling with creating music that resonates with your audience?

That’s a great question. Before I really find the courage to tell the story I have to make sure I’ve truly processed and learned the lesson from whatever highs and lows I’ve faced. For me, true balance has only presented itself to an experience once I’m on the other side of it. The music tends to always flow out of me clearly from this state of being, therefore I no longer really need to question how I tell the story because the music oftentimes perfectly reflects it naturally. That is when I know that it’s worth sharing, however the audience may receive it.

Can you tell us about the thematic journey across the trilogy and how ‘Rebirth’ fits into the overarching narrative you’ve crafted?

Thematically this trilogy depicts a story I never asked for but somehow needed in order to know who I really am. It mirrors all of my favorite hero’s journeys from Dune, Joseph Campbell’s book the Hero’s Journey, Star Wars, Harry Potter, LOTR etc… The trilogy is all about the cycle of life, death, and rebirth, which is necessary and unavoidable to ultimately become the truest version of yourself that was there all along.

The music video for ‘One Last Dance’ visually complements the emotional depth of the song. Can you walk us through the creative process behind the video and how it enhances the narrative?

We chose the desert to heighten a sense of loss and newfound isolation. A place where one could scream up at the skies for no one else to see or hear and dance out whatever feelings they need from their past mistakes. Creatively we wanted an environment that had enough space to let the ego die and celebrate the true self that is revealed past one’s suffering.

As this trilogy wraps up, what can we expect from you musically going forward?

Complete and utter freedom to be exactly who I am as the result of all of my trials and tribulations. In return all I hope is that it gives that same permission to my audience.
