Stray thoughts after one listen From a sound design perspective, this is just as pristine as you'd expect. Everything sounds meticulously crafted and he's clearly a very singular producer in terms of pure talent and stretching synthetic noises to their extremes. Some of the hi-fi production was distracting for me on the dancefloor tracks at times because I've grown to like a slightly more organic sound in house and techno over the years, but this is Hopkins we're talking about and he's always been just as associated with the glitchy/mechanical sounds of IDM. The last ~20 minutes (Luminous Beings/Recovery) are some of the most sublime music you'll hear this year - life affirming, calming, contented. I will need to spend more time with it but all in all I think if you're excited for this album based off of Immunity, this will be everything you are hoping for It's meant to be heard in one sitting, it's ambitious in the way it ebbs and flows and creates a pretty distinct universe. I love it, but I'm looking forward to when it hits me at the right moment and the right mood and I can fully appreciate the magnitude of it
the first half is a continuation of immunity but the second half really starts to turn this thing into something realllllly interesting
Ahhhhh listening again I can totally hear it. (I have no idea who Clark is I just want to sound cool and hip like you guys)
yeah @ChiliTacos youre in for a treat. S/T and Death Peak are two of the best electronic records this decade imo
God, this is so fucking good. Just gets better each listen. I really hope I get the chance to see him in a club soon. I saw him twice in 2014 but both were midday festival sets lol.
