I think mine might have been the Departed? I would have been 14, my dad and grandpa took me. I'm hard pressed to think of one I saw in theaters before that, though I saw plenty on VHS. I think Sleepy Hollow or Deep Blue Sea was my first R-rated movie, officially.

Mine was “Starship Troopers.” Absolutely perfect first R-rated movie for a teen: graphic violence and nudity. The propaganda stuff went way over my head, but I had a blast.

The problem I see a lot of with my friends, especially ones with kids, is that they don’t go to the theater unless it’s a big event movie like Marvel or Star Wars. The window for any smaller movie is much shorter now that they can wait or just not see it at all.

It makes conversations about movies because they’re usually circular conversations about Skywalkers and superheroes.

    Mine was The Expendables lol

I'm pretty sure the first R-rated movie I ever saw period was either the Tenacious D movie or the South Park movie

I’m trying to think. Maybe the Black Christmas remake? Or The Hitcher remake?

ME TOO. I have found that a lot of people my age have said the same thing. What is it about that film that made it so possible to see? haha

I used to know what the first R-rated one I saw in theaters was, but at some point the fact left my brain. I know I watched some at home from a young enough age that I never committed it to memory.

This was my first R-rated movie in theaters too. My dad took me. Think I 13 or so. During the shower scene, which is the first scene with nudity, I remember him saying to me, "meh, it's ok, a butt's a butt." haha.

My first R-rated film in theaters was Freddy vs Jason. I was in sixth grade. The first R-rated film I watched was An American Werewolf in London and I believe I was in first grade when my parents let me watch it.

My first R rated in theaters was 8 mile lmao I was in like 5th grade but I was a big Eminem fan (let’s not talk about it) so my mom took me. Awkward.

when I was in line to see Arthur Clownman a dad was taking her 8 year old daughter in to see this and they let her in, then next was a couple and the girl was under 18 and the dude wasn't old enough to be a "guardian" and they didn't let them in. It is unclear which one is worse but I thought it was great following letting a little girl in
