I am pretty sure, like 80%, that if you ignore a thread you will no longer see notifications if you are quoted in it. I think I coded that specifically into that feature, but am not certain. I'll run a test a little later to confirm.

 

It still gives a notification, but if you click it, everything is blocked out in the thread and you're reminded you're ignoring the thread, so you can't read it or be tempted to.

 

So what’s the deal with the Thrice thread? I see it mentioned everywhere but do I dare go?

Fine. I'm an asshole. I'm pretentious. Whatever. But if you skimmed through a Jenny Nicholson video and all you had to say was it's a "bad take" you're obviously not worth engaging with. BLOCKED.

 

Imagine thinking time spent watching a Jenny Nicholson video is time wasted

 

I don’t know who she is. Just wasn’t crazy about the “review”.

I’m going to leave this thread though. I’m glad to see at least a few others loved the movie as much as I did.

 

Uh? Pretty sure most people are aware of the nature of the character, it's the execution that bothers me. The amount of "gasps" I've heard in the theater during the violent scenes contradicts your point.

I know I said I was leaving this thread, but since you quoted me, I wanted to respond. That’s perfect execution for the Joker. If people aren’t gasping, then the execution was a failure. The Joker is a character that I believe is meant to thrive on shock awe and grit.

My last thought is that I think Joker was a clear case of preconditioned-thoughts taking precedence over thoughts on the actual quality/make-up of the film. And it’s a shame really, because when that happens, you may not get the same quality of opinion on the actual product. All the hype on potential in theater violence/attire of people seeing the film/signs at theaters etc. cause you to form an opinion before you even form one of the actual result of the product. This obviously happens a lot these days. I’m just glad I stayed away from any social media etc. about the film before seeing the film.

 

Eh the movie is just bad

 

anytime someone asks me what the best type of humor is I say date rape humor

 

Deadpool sucks and Joker sucks.

 

I understand that context matters, but Phoenix has been making better indie movies with a similar serious, depressing tone like this for years. If this movie wasn't "Joker" and called like "Arthur Clownman," I think just about as many people cared about "You Were Never Really Here" or "Inherent Vice" (No shade to either) or less would care about this.

 

I would have paid to see Arthur Clownman.

 

“When you introduce me...can you call me ‘Clownman’?”

 

I would have much preferred to discuss Arthur Clownman online than Joker

Those were both much, much better movies than this

 

Oh yeah. By no means am I making a comparison in quality.

 

I just know there’s been that whole “you all made up your minds before you saw it” argument and the whole “this isn’t a comic book movie” angle they’ve tried to run with and both are just so incorrect
