I find the first one annoying at best but idk maybe this one will be less annoying. I like the trailer a lot. At least we got through the blatant Taxi Driver/King of Comedy ripoff stuff and now onto the less popular New York, New York Scorsese references
You should ignore the opinions in this thread and give it a go. It definitely rips-off King of Comedy and Taxi Driver, BUT Phoenix is great and I do think it's genuinely a pretty good movie, even if I think Todd Phillips kind of stumbled there by accident. Not super into this trailer, but I love them both and will definitely see this.
I can already see this film getting 4+ stars on letterboxd before the majority of the people voting even watch it
The thing about that smile behind the glass is… it does kinda rule, insofar as it’s a fun lil beat executed just well enough to make me go, “ha, that’s neat.” But, unfortunately, Twittxr as a medium lends itself to some truly tedious enthusiasm for puddle-deep media literacy, lol. Every time I’m bored for a moment and I glance at trending posts there, I’m like… why did I do that to myself.
I'm going on two-months Twitter (and Facebook) free and it has completely liberated my brain. Currently Instagram and Letterboxd only
Want to start a betting pool on what songs will be in this movie. My first guess is that Joker will sing Living La Vida Loca
I love how everyone is like 'butttt the musical bits will be in their heads!!' as if we don't all just accept that for any musical. No... it's all real. The entirety of time square broke out into meticulous choreographed song and dance... It honestly looks exactly like the first in tone and color scheming etc so any reactions that it's ruined are just from dorks making up their mind before they've even seen it and being averse to liking anything slightly resembling a musical or starring a pop star.
