I actually liked the first one too so I was hoping this would have at least been decent. I kept falling asleep
Ah yes. But man, I fucking hate using rape as a motivation for a character’s shift in personality. That’s some lazy Game of Thrones nonsense. And there was nothing to suggest that Gleeson’s character did that.
This is the movie that the worst reviews of Megalopolis are actually describing. I think it’s truly that bad. So much money and craft thrown at nothing but terrible decisions
Yeah what even was that? Just a gratuitous rape scene? It's also left unclear whether it did or didn't happen. Just odd. At that point in the movie I was dying for it to be over. It never really takes off and it's dreadful from the start but from that point on every musical number and courtroom moment was pure torture. Like I went in expecting this to be Madame Web-type bad, but it just sucked the life out of me.
This was such a piece of shit. I kind of love that he didn’t just rehash the first film, but wow this is bad. Gaga’s last two roles have her tragically underused and miscast.
y'all are so weird lol. getting so worked up over a completely boringly average movie. not worth defending or attacking.
I think this kind of corrects a lot of wrongs of the first. The first I think glorifies violence, mental illness, makes him out to be a hero by the end. In this he’s sad and lonely and I think by the final courthouse scene really vulnerable for the first time. And it ends the way the first should have ended, honestly. Also think Gaga is great in this, and in a lot more of it than I thought based on what people were saying.
