I feel like it played like, very well at my test screening though. So maybe that can pull it through. Plus Idk how it would play in the press that Disney promoted, then decided to pull a movie that makes fun of nazis--
It doesn't need to play well for anyone other than the conservative crowd. They're the only ones the Disney is looking to appease here.
I can't imagine Taika will be down to keep doing Thor 4 if they pull this. Hopefully the threat of losing out on another billion dollar+ Marvel movie will keep them from doing it. (Taika has leverage now that he would never have had in a million years if he hadn't done Thor, for those who think nothing good comes from beloved indie directors doing Marvel movies)
man. y'all are crazy. even if they pull this, im sure itll find release elsewhere, and i highly doubt taika is walking away from a marvel paycheck lol. cmon.
Taika is a director with a lot of heat on him right now, if they fuck him over and release this straight to VOD or some shit I could pretty easily see him walking from Thor 4. He would get into another project immediately.
Taika would absolutely walk away from a Marvel paycheck if they pulled this. Maybe not if they still did release it in some form, like direct to VOD, but if Disney prevented it from releasing entirely I would honestly be really surprised if he went through with working on Thor 4.
As much as I would hate him not doing Thor, If they pull this I’d be 1000% down for him leaving and taking a stand saying he’ll never work for Disney or something. Considering what happened with Gunn and the support he got I think it would set a good precedent going forward. However is he allowed to? If he’s signed a contract can he just leave? Maybe a stupid question but usually I feel when directors leave projects it’s a mutual thing or the studio firing.
This isn't getting great critical reviews, but it seems more of a crowd-pleaser for casual movie-goers
