My only complaint on this is the lyrics are a little, hm, on the nose. Otherwise borderline perfect record lol

 

yeah track 2 that is very clearly about ICE is the one i'd say is the biggest offender there lol, had the same thoughts myself.

 

I hear Steely Dan and the Dead all over this, especially on Stay On That

This album isn’t my favorite but hoping it grows on me. Doesn’t matter tho he’s in the “see live every time no matter what” category for me now

 

I got mine for Philly in 100 level. The process was easy and tickets were reasonable. It felt weird but nice.

Finally

 

I think the last time I listened to this album was a late night drive back from seeing Wednesday in Milwaukee which, in hindsight, was fuking perfect.

 

I was going to come back to this album at some point this summer anyway but now it's a guarantee that this is the soundtrack of the season.

Gonna be driving with the windows down through Kentucky in a few weeks with this on.

First listen and a lot of his stuff grows tremendously for me but this one feels a little lackluster outside a few of the great covers

 

I'll check out the covers, but imo even after a bunch of relistens, this one feels like a pretty major step down from Passage du Desir - I'm sorry but I simply don't find his attempted fuck jams compelling nor the general "party the bad vibes away" throughline charming. (the one exception is "excited delirium" which rips and provides some righteous anger instead, but is sadly a total outlier.)

 

Venus and party all the time are great

 

This version of You Don't Miss Your Water is what they played at Red Rocks back in September. What a jam. I really love the Whiter Shade of Pale recording too, but it has a staticy fuzz throughout that's really annoying. Not sure if that's a me problem, Spotify problem, or the recording itself.
