I'm pretty positive there is only one police officer in the world of John Wick and he's both terrible at his job and friends with John Wick
I feel like civilians are used to this too. They freaked out by the fountain but for the most part they were like "meh seems about right" during all the fights
The joke about John being in Rome to kill the pope destroyed me. I was at an early morning screening (That was decently full) and was kind of surprised that didn't get a bigger laugh.
People don't believe me when I tell them how awesome both JW films are, as if Keanu's existence alone makes them weary of this being anything good. Like, bruh, he hardly even speaks - he's just a brutal killing machine and it's rad as hell. Pope line got the biggest laugh from my theater for sure. The shootout w/ Common in the mall was also a terrific little turnabout.
This one was better for me. The casting was amazing, the expansion of the universe, the locations for the shootouts, everything was brilliant.
I'll be the third: Go watch The Raid Redemption and The Raid 2. Just re-watched the first one, hopefully I'll be seeing this this weekend.
Finally went and saw this. Really enjoyed it overall. They really need to change things up to justify a third movie. I mean, I enjoy watching Keanu do headshot after headshot as much as anyone, but we already had the first movie for that. I guess the next one is different in that he won't have a safe zone at all? I dunno. This had some fantastic action, so I really shouldn't complain. I did find the Fishburne character to be pretty pointless. He really could not have gotten a gun with 7 bullets anywhere else? And he couldn't figure out where Santino was? Eh. Again, I did like it, but there wasn't a strong story and that holds it back for me.
The gun with seven bullets isn't why he went to him... They gave him a safe hiding place and medical care so he could recover after being attacked by however many assassins tried to get him during his stroll through the city. And they helped him get into the art museum unnoticed.
What he said about Fishburne^ Also I feel the story was definitely there. He made a blood pact with Santino to be able to retire the first time. He sorta came out of retirement and Santino heard an came to collect his debt which gets the ball rolling on everything else.
He literally asks for a gun as well. It was a forced cameo to reunite the actors. They could have easily just had it be just the homeless guy a part of a homeless network. It should have been cut.
Reread my post. I said a strong story. Of course it had a story, geez. But It was incredibly basic, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Simple stories can be effective and work really well. This was overall effective, but it's the second time they took a very simple premise to have Keanu headshot everyone. And the first one did that aspect better. To justify a third movie they really need to build that up more.
I read what you said and I disagreed ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ for what this movie is and what it's trying to do the story is strong enough. The first has just as simple a story.
Pretty rare for me to go to the movies unless it's at the cheap theater with 5 buck tickets, but i've gotta see this toot sweet. Hopefully tomorrow.
You are saying it was effective. Which, I agree with. It works, but that doesn't make some strong and great story.
No, I did. You are disregarding parts of my post. He got a gun, the bad guys location, and safe transportation there. Great. We didn't need a glorified cameo for that. We did not need Fishburne's backstory. Which we only got so that 5 minutes later John could do a call back and give him another "choice". His character is completely superfluous.
