https://www.ign.com/articles/john-wick-chapter-4-hagakure I feel like this is something that probably got changed along the way though.
Gonna be a great Friday that we get this and a new FOB album on the same day Between this and Scream 6, March is stacked
yeah it is, trying to catch Creed this week before Scream takes the Dolby auditoriums, still got Champions/65/Shazam/John Wick/DnD left for big releases
I know social media reactions typically mean fuck all, but the ones I saw have not complained about the length of this one. Also, I did see some rumblings that plans changed and that the reason for the extended length of this movie --- Potential spoilers? is that during the COVID shutdowns/delays they decided to combine movies 4 and 5, so this is now one long finale. The reactions might be dancing around this being the ending for Wick which is why the length feels justified, but I could be wrong
I don't doubt this because i did see one reaction calling it "a great finale to the story" or something to that effect but if that's the case I think it is a little weird on the studio's part that they aren't marketing the movie with that in mind
i'm a little torn on this after watching last night. on one hand, it's really good. the action is perhaps some of the best in all four films, and the movie ensures that you're absorbing it all in full. from a craft standpoint, it's basically unbeatable. there's a really awesome scene, for instance, involving a rave that i'm glad to say wasn't one of the better moments. donnie yen rules too. but then again, while the length isn't as huge of a concern as i was fearing, there were at least a couple times where i found myself getting a little impatient, especially when they need to build more of the mythology up. there are also times where (and i say this understanding it's a john wick movie and where they've gone in the past) it sort of pushes past the limits of how absurd shit gets in a way that might not fit. like, there's no blow to john that he doesn't survive. mileage may vary, but that could take others out for a bit. still kind of marinating. there's people who already saw it calling this best action film in years if you don't want to take my word. i didn't NOT enjoy this, but i'm also scratching my head at how immense the praise is. i'd recommend seeing it in theaters for sure if the length isn't an issue for you. it also gave me two of the biggest laughs in a movie all year with a couple scenes (you'll probably know the latter one when you see it) post-credit scene, for whoever cares
