Paradise Valley is his worst album by a fair margin and I'd still call 75% of it very good. The only song on there that I actually think is bad is the Frank Ocean one, and that's really only because it doesn't fit at all.
Okay that sounded pretty fucking wicked. I can see myself seriously jamming this, especially once the sun comes out again.
I'll be honest I haven't even listened to Paradise Valley all the way through, it's just not at all the sound I like for John and I learned that with Born and Raised.
I thought born and raised was near perfect, but paradise valley was a huge misstep. I don't revisit anything from that album save maybe the jj cale cover.
That cover was easily my least favourite thing on there. I love a good amount of that album but "Badge and Gun" and "On the Way Home" in particular are songs I go back to a lot when I want some Mayer music in my life.
"On the Way Home" is one of Mayer's best songs and his folk/country period in general delivered some of his best material. There are days I like Born and Raised more than Continuum.
I'm in the boat of being excited for this type of release. Keeps him out there and constantly on people's feeds. If the songs are quality, then he'll dominate 2017, no doubt. I loved "Love On the Weekend".
Just gonna get into John Mayer mode all week then. When that loneliness is through, I'm gonna find another yoooouuuu
Moving On and Getting Over + last half of Changes are golden. Love On The Weekend is alright...Just doesn't go anywhere in my opinion. Glad he's back!!!
Reading through the thread and this may be unpopular, but I like Born and Raised and Paradise Valley much more than his other albums. Haven't listened to the first wave yet
Got a nice playlist on to warm me up, a mix of everything he's done. Forgot how solid his entire discography is. Why Georgia is a song I continually forget about as I rarely listen to Room for Squares.
