Theme Still Feel Like Your Man Helpless Love on the Weekend Changing Never on the Day You Leave In the Blood Moving on and Getting Over Emoji of a Wave Roll it on Home Rosie You’re Gonna Live Forever in Me
Didn't get a single Born & Raised song at my Sob Rock date a few weeks ago. Not my favorite but definitely one of his best.
Just threw on the complete 2012 performances collection (what a great title) for the first time in a minute. So enjoyable!
Man this would be great if it wasn’t from the concert that he shoehorned his buddy Dave Chappelle into.
Been listening to him for nearly 20 years now but he's at he great risk of weighing down his career with duds. The last 2 albums have no staying power imo so looking at nearly 10 years since his last good album. It's as if he cares more about the vibe/image/aesthetic of the last two albums than the quality of the songs themselves (ie the 80s of Sob and the, in his own words, return to the hit pop songs of his peak of The Search). He needs to get back to channelling that talent and those influences and experience of playing with legends into his songs. How can you spend summer after summer playing with Bob Weir etc and then write something like Why You No Love Me.....?
It's not. He did three nights of shows and Chappelle was on the first one. Born and Raised front-to-back acoustic is from the second night. Even if Chappelle did make an appearance, the concert is great and all the money goes to a good cause. Highly recommend any fans of John check it out. The encore is a highlight: "Roll It On Home" lifted me up and his Dylan cover made me so happy.
Obviously, the cause is great. But Mayer's full-throated support of Chappelle absolutely sucks. There's no reason to add him to that series when Mayer and Bobby Weir can bring in enough people on their own. It taints the whole thing.
