if there’s a chance to completely ignore any rational thought and pretend you experience is more important and more valid than those of others, you know chorus.fm posters aren’t going to pass it up.
I hadn’t thought of that particular issue with “Why You No Love Me,” but it seems like someone in his camp/at the label probably should have. In any case, it’s a deeply stupid song title/lyric, and the song itself is pretty instantly the worst thing he’s ever put on a record. I like the album overall, though I think “Last Train Home” kind of towers over the rest of it. Wish Maren was more of a presence throughout the album, because she really adds something special to that song.
Might be more excited about the tour dates than the album haha. Still haven't had a chance to listen and it's killing me
Now I don't even want to listen to it in fear my opinion will get fucking blasted. I really hate it here sometimes.
I try not to take it so personally. It's just an Internet forum. If you love it, then exclaim your love for it! You deserve to enjoy it, Julie .
Well thank you! Listen I don't take much on here personally....I had my run of taking shit too personal back in the day on AP.net. I just didn't want this thread to turn into a battlefield. I'm on Wild Blue right now. Love the Grateful Dead vibes in this song. Touring and Playing with The Dead has done wonders for John! I love it!
There were many moments on my second listen where I felt Maren could have shined and not just in the background. When she comes in on Last Train Home, she steals the show.
Right?!?! I felt like if there was like 2 more minutes of that song she would have blown the roof off it with that voice!
Yeah, I want the closer to be a duet between the two of them. It’s already a country song, why not throw it to the country star you already had in the studio?!
Yeah, other than the criticisms of "I Guess I Just Feel Like" (I think the vagueness kind of works for that song?) I agreed with most of this.
I always took it as he just feels like...meh, blah...whatever about whatever the situation is. Lord knows I've said "I guess I just feel like.." followed up by a shurg or "blah". Sometimes you just don't have the actual words to describe a feeling.
I actually like “Carry Me Away” now? Awesome! Generally not a huge fan of the music video pastiches but I will give the man credit for knowing that he made a soft rock record.
I remember when he released it, I was like "Broooooo, sammmmeeeee" Especially the "giving up today" part. Like....right in the feels.
