Single clip. Getting an 80s vibe from the production but his guitar is very present too. Reminds me of Phil Collins.

might need to do a discography run. it's been a few years since I've heard the first two albums in full.

First two albums hold up. We talk a lot about his guitar skills, but he really had a mastery of pop songwriting from the beginning.

I’ve never loved the debut record. The first four songs as singles are indisputably great, but on revisiting it this morning that back half really drags.

I think 3x5, Love Song for No One and Back to You is maybe my favourite three song stretch on the album but the last three songs are probably my least favourite part of his discography. They definitely drag.

"Your Body Is a Wonderland" is the worst song on that album, and is pretty cringe on a re-listen. I love everything else on there, though (especially that stretch @SpyKi mentioned), and have no issue with the back half/closing trio.

tbh I don't think I've ever listened to the last two in full - and I remember really, really liking Born & Raised more than others seemed to.

You know it's gonna be a good album when he's not on the cover and it says Music By John Mayer.

It's been a really long time since I've done a discography run through, may have to start that today.
I think I've always had his top three as Continuum -B&R -Battle Studies. Let's see if anything changes.

reaching the end of Room for Squares now, the end drags a little, but St. Patrick's Day is a stellar closer. Another one of my favorite JM songs.

I feel like if you lose “Not Myself” it solves the slight dragging problem at the end of that record.

I can't quite get into Born and Raised, I think Shadow Days is his worst single, but Born and Raised the song is incredible

Some of his lighter stuff is basically Disney soundtrack material though. "You're Gonna Live Forever In Me" sounds right out of a Pixar short

If he keeps up the vibe from the last few years tracks like "New Light" and "Carry Me Away", I'm all over it

Born and Raised has grown on me so much in the last few years. Same with Paradise Valley. There are some forgettable tracks, but overall they’ve become part of my rotation and I consider them really good records.
