He wrapped up Virtute's story line just as I hoped he would. It destroyed me just as I knew it would.

Haven't gotten a chance to listen to this yet.. Have never listened to his solo stuff. Can somebody explain Virtute?

 

are you familiar with the weakerthans? they have some songs about a cat named virtute who tries to help her owner overcome alcoholism/depression, but runs away bc she realizes she cant help him. virtute at rest and 17th st on this album are the end of that story

 

I love Left And Leaving but honestly have never listened to anything else. Guess I'll need to listen to Reconstruction Site now

haven't finished it yet, will have better thoughts next week. however john k music usually takes some time to sit with me

 

This was def his least immediate to me, granted I'm not as into this style as I am w his other stuff. Let me know, esp since you like RS the best & this is most like that

We keep praising Virtute at rest but I just wanted to give some love to every other song on this thing.

 

When Virtute started out with that little 3 second intro of the progression from Manifest/Hospital Vespers/Past Due, I about welled up based on that alone.

 

Hahahaha good point. It's just been a long time coming, ya know? So far the other stand outs for me have been Capital, Vampire Alberta Blues, and the title track. Also love what he did with Fellow Traveler.

 

This is spectacular. I like it far better than his last solo attempt.
