Definitely don't hear Vince in this, or even Vince's progression, but this is definitely Joey's best project yet. Really loved this on first listen.
Hadn’t ever listened to Joey before but I also thought of Big Fish Theory on my first listen. Also agreed that 06 Summertime is better but they’re both amazing.
Anyone got any more hip-hop recs from this year? This, Saba and Nickelus F are my favorites so far but I’m sure I’ve missed something.
Check these releases. Skipping the more obvious ones: Topaz Jones, Towkio, Flatbush Zombies, Gunna, Maxo Kream, KYLE, MF DOOM/Czarface, A$AP Rocky, 88Rising, EARTHGANG, Mac Miller, Denzel Curry, Amine, Nostrum Grocers
Oh shit I almost forgot about the this album, loved that too. Thanks for the recs everyone! Got a lot to check out
I guess I'm the only one that thinks this doesn't even touch iiiDrops. The production is really cool and his delivery is still amazing but his lyrical content seems to have been simplified so much since the last tape
cupcakKe Max Kream Young Dolph SOB X RBE Pusha T Freddie Gibbs Apollo Brown and Locksmith Young Thug Jay Rock Travis Scott
Evidence has put out the best rap album of the year, nothing comes close. JPEGMAFIA, Freddie Gibbs, Grems and Jeremiah Jae have put out great albums too.
mixed bag for me on first listen, kinda loses me halfway through. Pretty sure I don't ever need to hear Karl Malone again
I think it's actually deeper than people first supposed. He's very self-aware about the lyrical shift at times throughout the record. I have a feeling he's going to put something out again soon and it's going to be much more introspective. The last track hints at that and it cuts off jarringly as to almost indicate something else is on its way.
