I think an argument could be made for at least 3 of their albums being labeled the best. which would leave the “losers” as 2 and 3, despite being in contention for 1. So, yea, saying it could 3 is not a hot take.

Just dropping in cuz someone mentioned Invented. It’ll never get its own tour, which is sad. But if it did and it stopped in Seattle, guessing they’d cut Anais from the set. I’m not still salty Seattle is basically the only date on this tour they didn’t play (Splash) Twist Turn. Not at all.
The hard part is the standard they have set by their own music. Invented is fine, but come on. Movielike, Stop, Littlething and Invented are classic though
Invented is very good and arguably my fourth favorite behind the big three. I love the feel of that album and the times they achieve sonically. That album just sounds massive at times. Heart is Hard to Find, Evidence, Movielike, Littlething, and Invented are among their best for me. The album has aged well for me. Certainly better than some of their more recent ones
I’m glad that an album is still supposedly in the works, but I miss this band’s old clip of productivity. Four albums in the 2010s and they were all good to great, IMO. Zero albums in the 2020s and we’re three years from end-of-decade lists starting to pop up.
Increasingly common for bands of that era e.g. FOB just over 5 years up to Stardust and has since been almost a further 3.5.
i’ve said it a million times and i’ll say it every time it gets brought up: invented came out my senior year of high school and the coming of age themes resonated with me very deeply and for that it will always be held in extremely high regard in my mind. heart is hard to find, stop, littlething, invented…such a classic record
Not saying it’s my all time favorite, but when I want to listen to Jimmy Eat World, I always go right to Surviving.
