On a big Static Prevails kick recently. Also, the Clarity: Phoenix Session is still so good. I remember thinking it felt like listening to a new JEW album when that streamed.
I tried listening to it the other day and ended up skipping most tracks, I really hate everything going on vocally on the album and think the songs mostly just aren't good
Static Prevails scratches the same itch that the band Mineral does for me. Winter, raw, imperfect, 90s emo.
Been listening to the Jay Som record a lot and in a just world between Jim’s guest feature on Float and “555” on Surviving he should be an in demand singer for more pop songs. Hayley, Olivia, Taylor et all get on it
I like Static quite a bit but I don’t think it stacks up with the vast majority of what came after it
I completely disregarded Static for so long for no good reason and when I finally gave it a shot I realized it’s actually pretty cool. I do think most stuff after it clears it, but I would personally reach for it over Invented, at minimum, which has never done much for me on the whole aside from a couple highlights.
Reminds me of seeing local bands in 2000-2003. Fun fact: a local band named The Audible Campaign sounded just like early JEW. Lead singer/guitarist then became a guitar tech for JEW.
Exactly. That album is nostalgic as hell and maybe that’s why I adore it so much. I’ll need to check out The Audible Campaign!
Feels pretty likely they'll play Warped in Montreal on the 21 or 22 with this Toronto date being the 23.
