as a swift hater I will concede it's very endearing that she gave jim a "rising up to the stage from below" moment

For me no album holds up better, or has proven itself as timeless from that era as Futures.

Mixtape is criminally underrated. What a closer.

The acoustic version is even better. Even more heartbreaking.

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

it does annoy me a bit that the acoustic version cuts out half the song

I’m so sorry to just drop a full album ranking without any foreplay but I was discussing with my friends last night and I just needed a further outlet.

    10. Jimmy Eat World 6/10
    9. Static Prevails 7/10
    8. Invented 8/10
    7. Damage 8/10
    6. Surviving 9/10
    5. Clarity 10/10
    4. Chase This Light 10/10

    Better in time

Ever a thankless task ranking their records as the order routinely changes due to the quality of the material. I will say Futures and Clarity are top 5 MOST of the time.

    1. Futures 10/10
    2. Bleed American 10/10
    3. Clarity 10/10
    4. Integrity Blues 10/10
    5. Chase This Light 9/10
    6. Surviving 8/10
    7. Invented 8/10
    8. Static Prevails 7/10
    9. Damage 7/10
    10. Self titled 6/10

Top 3 could go in any order depending on mood; but I most often rank them like this. IB will never be #1, but it’s as good an album as the rest of those 10/10’s; I just have too much nostalgia and life attached to the others.

There are only a handful of albums across all the music I listen to that I'd rank 10/10 if that means flawless front to back but Futures may be one of them.

Futures is a 10, Clarity is a 10, Bleed and Chase are 9.5s, Integrity Blues is a 9.

Damage would also be a 9 if it sounded better.

Invented would have been a 9 if they’d dipped a little more into the Chase This Light b-sides that yielded “Stop.” “Be Sensible” and “Open Bar Reception” deserved to be on an album.

I absolutely adore Futures but Drugs or Me has just never landed for me. I can't help but laugh at some of the lyrics coupled with the earnestness of their delivery.
