I feel like I’m not even half as plugged into music as a lot of the people on this site, but I think I’d still have a list long enough to kill me in this game.
oh I just meant with the world in general, I'm sure the next album will be phenomenal if Place Your Debts is anything to go by
Damage is an album that would be universally revered had it been released as any other band’s debut, but, as is, has had the unfortunate fate of existing within the context of, and being over shadowed by, almost every other Jimmy album before it. I genuinely think it would be considered a classic if it had came prior to everything else or if had been novice band that had released it instead
i think a remaster could get it there, every time i listen it i think ... if it just had a little more
It needs the History Books treatment. I listened to that album in the car on the way to a Gaslight show the other night, and I still can’t believe how dramatic an improvement the remix is.
EP. 342 - Zach Lind (Jimmy Eat World) Great listen. Zach goes more in depth with where they're at with new music, too. -The last time they wrote together, they turned off the multi tracking and computers and just jammed in front of some amps and recorded it with a boom box. This relieved a lot of that pressure and helped take them back to basics as a band. Helped them realize that sitting in front of a computer and multi tracking is fun but can maybe be overkill. Thinking of ways to be creative without standing in front of a screen. Results have been good from these sessions. -They know they need to make an album, they want to make a new album, but don't want to force it as they are aware of the internal pressure to release something that's really good and sounds fresh. -For them, making an album is an intense process. They're gearing towards that. They need to be in the right space for it, and are waiting for that to align. -They have some good songs, but not enough to justify going all in on an album. Reiterated that they need to be in the right place as human beings to undertake that process. -Zach records song ideas and sends them split out to Jim so he can work on different parts, or uses ideas as a starting point for a song. Sometimes Jim brings a full demo to them and they get in the studio and record it right away. -Says Jim doesn't get enough credit. Says he feels really fortunate and lucky to be in a band with him, and that he's so modest and so unassuming that people don't realize how good he is. He thinks he's really underrated. Zach looks at his role as "how can I support him as a musician and band member?". Oh man, they're cooking. Refreshing to hear how careful they are with upholding their catalogue. Their comeback is gonna be crazy.
Oh!!!! Just got to the end. "We have a few things cooking up that aren't really album stuff. We have some irons in the fire."
