Holy shit, 9 people? Was there some other big event in your city that day? That makes me feel way better about the turnout in Birmingham on that tour. What an amazing show, would happily see him play solo again.
Nah, it was in Montana and no one knows the name "Jim Adkins" there. Even my friends who like Jimmy Eat World were like "who?" when I told them about it. I knew the hits before that of course and used to watch the Pain music video on Fuse, but Invented was the first one I got really into for some reason!
The release of Integrity Blues was a fun time on the website. I remember the album came out in late October, but for some reason it seemed like every person on these forums had gotten an advance stream of the thing around Labor Day weekend. I remember thinking "Welp, guess they are sending this thing to everyone who asks?" It was fun because people were then losing their shit over how good it was for like 2-3 months, rather than the album fading into the background after a week like what seems to be the norm now.
MOST interesting, i just feel like that album is late in the game, but i find it interesting when people find a band on a certain album that's not common
Can vouch for that too. I was in middle school and bought the CD at a Borders closing sale. I didn’t totally appreciate Bleed American until a year after Invented came out, which feels wild in hindsight
I didn’t really get into the band until Damage came out (which is probably why I rank it higher than most at 5th). I heard Bleed American a few months earlier and really liked it but I didn’t realize how stacked their catalog was until they were playing a local radio fest in 2013 and I did my research Wish I had known them earlier though because I actually saw them play a full 20 song set in 2011 when I literally only knew The Middle. Every time I’ve seen them since they’ve played like 11 songs tops
Yeah it happened to coincide with me needing to put in driving hours for my permit, so we’d hop in my parents’ vehicle that had SiriusXM and listen to Alt Nation, which played My Best Theory ALL the time. They even had the world premiere of Stop, which I remember forcing my dad to drive around with me so I could hear it.
I've used irthesteve for literally 30 years, it's wild. When I was a kid there was a TV show that was like I Am Badger He is Baboon, or something, I'm sure one of you know what it was. Anyway, my friend thought it would be funny to use my name instead, and it's stuck ever since
Always liked JEW singles over the years but never fully listened to an album until IB. It's one of my favorite of all time now and I'm so glad it got me into the band's catalog. I remember being obsessed with the middle when I was 10 and emailing a person I met on an AOL chat room to somehow download the song lmao.
Chase This Light does not get mentioned enough in these convos, when it's filled with top-notch JEW like Big Casino, Firefight, Let It Happen, Gotta Be Somebody's Blues and DIZZY
