I have trouble ranking them so this is my way of doing it. Tier 1 Clarity Tier 2 Bleed American Futures Invented Chase This Light Tier 3 Damage Integrity Blues Surviving Static Prevails Don’t really count the debut s/t. I honestly love everything though, including Tier 3–I actually just listened to my new lavender copy of Static Prevails yesterday and it ruled.
ranking + some notes 1. Futures is my favorite album of all time 2. Clarity is their most consistent, top to bottom 3. Bleed American has my favorite song of all time and like three others in my top 50 4. Invented's title track is a top 5 JEW song and the production on this album is so gorgeous 5. Chase This Light has arguably the most delicately crafted songs of all the albums, though certain elements feel dated 6. Integrity Blues has been getting some revisits as of late. their most intriguing in some aspects. definitely has more layers to it than what the first couple listens will suggest 7. Static Prevails has both their rawest, most unhinged non-demo material (TTA, CiitA, Robot Factory) AND their sweetest, most underrated ballads (Claire, Episode IV). youth in a nutshell 8. Surviving, like IB, has intriguing highs but more skips 9. Damage's narrative deserves merit but the stripped back approach kills the replay value for me 10. Jimmy Eat World barely counts
The problem is their “trilogy” of greatness take the top 3 spots in various orders. Clarity. Bleed American. Futures.
The Clarity - Bleed American - Futures run is their top 3 in any order, but Intergrity Blues is a VERY close 4 imo
Clarity - Futures - Integrity Blues for me. Love that each were released in a different decade, proving their consistency
1. Futures 2. Bleed American 3. Integrity Blues 4. Clarity 5. Invented 6. Chase This Light 7. Surviving 8. Damage 9. Static Prevails 10. Jimmy Eat World
1. Clarity 1. Futures 3. Bleed American 4. Chase This Light 5. Invented 6. Integrity Blues 7. Damage 8. Surviving --. Static / Jimmy Eat World First two are interchangeable. They are, quite literally, my 2 favorite albums of all time, and my preference goes to whatever I'm in the mood for (though, I do have a Futures tattoo, so maybe that edges it out). I haven't heard Static enough times front to back to properly rate it. Never heard a single song from the self-titled.
Futures Bleed American Integrity Blues Chase This Light Clarity Surviving Invented Damage Static Prevails Jimmy Eat World Big tier drop between Clarity and Surviving, should note
Clarity is closer to my heart these days but I consider Bleed American to be one of rock's greatest albums ever.
