Was pretty cool to see congratulations live. That song is fantastic. So happy to finally see these guys in person. They did not disappoint! I swear though, every time i go to the rave, there is so much weed lol.
posted on the ticket sale thread but posting here as well. have one ticket for sale tonight at the Salt Shed in Chicago. asking for what i paid for. $70
I don't think MO and JEW are the best match fan base wise tbh. If I can get a cheap last min ticket I'll be there. Love early MO, don't like MO's stuff recently and live they're usually pretty static and emotionless. I bet JEW's fun though.
I’m going on Monday with my brother, and he has never even heard of MO. JEW are definitely more of a household name based on their big radio hits, so that’s definitely a factor too
I agree there’s not as much crossover as there could be. While i used to like MO, i haven’t listened in years. But i’m not upset about it. They’ll probably put on a good show when I see them
I *adore* both bands but Manchester Orchestra is one of the best live bands around. What are we doing here?
I can no longer make it to the Jimmy Eat World and Manchester Orchestra show in Columbus, OH this Saturday (August 19th) due to a wedding. My friends were originally going to take them, but they can no longer make it either. Don’t want them to go waste so I’m selling them for $35 each. Wanted to ask in here before posting elsewhere. Shoot me a message if you're interested!
Road-tripping from Chicago to my hometown of Columbus to see this tour with my longtime friends/ex-bandmates that also grew up being influenced by these bands and our wives. It’s gonna feel like 2006 again, BUT WITH WIVES. I’m so fucking stoked.
i didn't go because it was a co-headliner, i don't listen to MO at all, and jimmy is one of my favorite bands, but not for 70 bucks, plus I'm glad i didn't go, i saw they only played 16 songs, the last times i saw em was pre pandemic but it was a way better setlist each time (since they were headlining) Jimmy Eat World Concert Setlist at Riviera Theatre, Chicago on May 8, 2018 | setlist.fm Jimmy Eat World Concert Setlist at The Rust Belt, East Moline on November 8, 2019 | setlist.fm
I wouldn’t avoid a co headliner. But I’d be less excited until I knew how long the band or bands I liked were playing. Last year with Andrew/Dashboard, they both still played a long enough set that I don’t feel like I was “missing” songs. But for me, that seems to be an exception rather than the norm.
My thinking as well. I love these guys and I’m going to pay $70 to see them play a headline set if I ever get the chance.
I definitely feel like I got my money's worth, but wouldn't have minded if Jimmy had played a few more songs. I still don't know how you don't include Futures at some point in the set. MO was decent enough to sit through while waiting for JEW to play, but I'm not sure I will go back to them much. Me wife really liked Middle Kids though!
JEW was in top form in Columbus tonight. The crowd was so dead, though. I think it was a pretty heavy MO crowd.
Am I the only one who went to a show where a fair amount of the crowd was into both bands lol this thread makes it sound like they’re on two opposite ends of the earth music wise
This thread is insane I swear lol JEW is my favorite band of all time by a LOT and I think Manchester had the better set at my date. And JEW absolutely crushed it.
I’ve always thought of them as the bigger band just because they’ve had legit radio hits and The Middle is one of those songs everybody seems to know even if they don’t know who it’s by. I also know a ton of people who are familiar with JEW but have never heard of MO, but obviously that’s a small sample size and it could very well be a regional thing lol
