Ah ok, I bought a Yellowcard pit ticket for $60 from someone but those tickets were selling for almost $120 online after taxes so I thought it was a steal, but I do recognize these prices are crazy. I’d def pay that to see Jimmy though and feel like I got lucky.
Not sure what market you're in, but I'm in Cleveland market and $60 is pretty decent (Columbus show for this came out to be $62 after fees) for this show. For me, I am in love with both these bands, so I consider $60 for this an absolute steal. Both of these bands could do very, very well on their own headliners, so that's probably why it's a tad more expensive than most shows in these kind of venues. Hell, I spent like, $90 on a ticket to go see CAKE in September (bucket list band for me). I spent $55 to see The Gaslight Anthem in September as well, $50 for Violent Femmes in October (a band I don't even really care about beyond their first two albums), $40 to see Petey in November.
I'm in Salt Lake City, so yeah, probably a similar market to you. $60 for 2 bands you love is a good price, for sure. I figure that's $30 per band, and that's totally reasonable to me.
$60 is right around the line where i consider if i really want to see the show. it might be 'not bad' when compared to other artists price tags these days, but $60 to see an hour each of JEW and MO i think is objectively 'a lot'.
I really hope we hear something about new music soon. There's no way there isn't an album on the way!
Great song. Listened to Chase This Light the other day and the bonus tracks came on… I actually don’t think I’ve ever heard Distraction before. Loved it.
Went to the Jimmy Eat World/Manchester Orchestra and Middle Kids concert last night at Red Rocks, Colorado. Middle kids sounded great, Manchester sounded absolutely amazing...and then JEW came on and were terrible. His voice was muffled, the sound swirled around (maybe it was the wind?), the bass was too loud and the guitars too low. I haven't seen them in at least a decade, is this how JEW normally is or was it an off night? Also the difference in crowd response between first four album songs compared to latest 4 albums was obvious.
I'd say any bad sounding JEW performance is certainly an exception rather than the rule. I've probably seen them 5-6 times and they've been incredible each time.
Yeah somehow I don't think a band going for 30 years and well known for a sterling live reputation is the problem here
Yeah amazing live band. I bet it was wind or some outdoor factor that was messing with the sound. Still very disappointing, sorry to hear that was your experience.
I've seen Jimmy a few times. Once it was one of the best sounding shows I've ever heard. Once it was one of the worst. On the latter, all I could really hear was bass drum and vocals. Both were small venues; both times the band was using their Fractal setups. Definitely the venue's fault on the bad one.
Definitely the sound was terrible, I wouldn't say them. But it was easy to compare since the other two bands, middle kids and Manchester sounded much better.
often on big co-headliners like this the bands will each bring their own sound guys, i would chalk it up to that
Somebody fill me in on Manchester orchestra. Are they worth seeing? I have reserved seats in milwaukee and trying to decide of its worth it to show up early since jimmy plays second on that date apparently.
Out of the hundreds of bands I’ve seen live that I wasn’t familiar with prior, I think only 1 was a chore to sit through. Live music rules. Worst case scenario, you sit in your seat and shit post on chorus. I’d go in time to see them and I only know a few of their songs.
If you like getting your face blown off, you'll love seeing Manchester Orchestra. In my opinion, they're the best live band in the business and have been for over a decade.
