Look, I know it was recorded in the 50’s, Brenda Lee was only like 15 when it was recorded, and it’s a dang Christmas song, but I swear to God every time I hear Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree I hear the lyric as “Maybe we’ll have some fuckin’ pie and do some caroling.” Every. Time.
I was an extra in the music video for Always Be, but the song had already come out with lyrics. Being the weird fan I was, I memorized them before I got to set. I never really thought about it, but it kind of does sound like that, haha.
I always thought it was sort of like “I’m a ‘as I’ve always been’” which is grammatically incorrect and confusing but almost makes sense lol
Thinking about it, I think it’s obviously phrased to also be heard as “ass”. It’s kind of clever, and kind of silly. Absolutely love the song, but not big on that line.
Always Be does a thing that I really like with songs where they adjacently reference the album title without explicitly saying it. “She’s a light; she’ll always be a little far for me to reach”
I'm alone in this, and I'm as I've always been: right behind what's happening I've heard it like this for years lol
Just listened to it, can confirm, does not say "and I'm". Absolutely says "I'm-a". I mean, it's not a big deal though, singers have been singing things weird for ages.
I don't post about the pod a lot here, but you'll see a couple of familiar faces in this. With the pod starting to wind down as we approach the end of the discography, we thought it would be fun to have ChatGPT write us a script for an overall trailer for the show. I think it's a fun little edit. For those that watch - enjoy!
Finally listened to Surviving the full way through and was very impressed. 4/5 tracks are very solid and no real skippers for me. Haven't listened to much post-Futures after moving away from the 'scene' for a decade or so, so now time to dip back in to the last few albums.
It’s true I recently jammed Invented and while it’s very low on my album ranking, I’ve grown to really like it. It’s still very good despite a lower ranking
Damage is probably my least favorite, and I still love it more than a lot of other bands best albums. Wildly consistent discography.
