I wouldn't consider emergency & I emo. But I would consider it fuckin sick. I've been all about back & forth lately
No yeah real talk 90s emo is hard to get into if you can't get past certain....features it has (nasally voices, heart on sleeve lyrics, rough production)
If It's Here When We Get Back It's Ours was my favorite song for the longest time in middle school haha
That's an album I keep meaning to spend more time with, didn't really do much for me when I tried before but I'm convinced I can get it
I could see you enjoying it for sure. Definitely a grower though. Album is weird as hell haha For sure. I meant to ask Christian about them the other day! Damn. Christian probably loves them
The only albums I can even think of that I've enjoyed and could maybe be described as emo are the last two Hotelier albums, Clarity, and Harmlessness.
Diary doesn't grab me the way I feel it should for liking the style so much so I'll back that. Certain songs tho - matbe half the album - are like peak of the genre
I think the only 90s emo albums I've really listened to more than once are Clarity, American Football, and Sunny Day Real Estate's Diary. I'll give both Mineral albums a listen tomorrow probably and check back here. Or the emo thread. I guess there's two now.
I'd suggest Jejune, Pohgoh, Last Days of August or Elliot if you're looking for more melodic/vocal based emo. Especially the first two, lots of pop influence with them
I listened to The Power Of Failing (or is it Falling? Idk) once and enjoyed it enough, but I wasn't too impressed. I'll listen to EndSerenading though and double back to the other one after.
