The Phoenix New Times article in the references of the Go Big Casino Jimmy Wiki is an interesting read. I especially like this part, which is Jim talking about what will become Bleed American: "We just want to do our record, give it to a label and say, 'Here it is, put it out.'" Adkins' smile quickly fades when he's asked about the direction of the new Jimmy Eat World material. "I don't think people are going to like it," he offers after a long pause. "I really don't. But then again, last time I didn't think people would like Clarity. But I really don't think anyone's going to like this new one. I think it will follow the tradition of us alienating our entire listening audience with each new record. It's real rock, even more like pop-structured songs. I don't think any song is over three and a half minutes.""
I do love that a lot of their acoustic versions of songs are still the whole band and not just Jim with an acoustic guitar. Like Dizzy. No offense to Jim. This version is really cool.
This acoustic version is just so damn good. And “PYD” is everything I love most about this band. Big moody and atmospheric. So ready for an album at this point. Worried I’ll overplay these two songs and then if they’re on the album I’ll skip them, or they won’t be on the album and I won’t play them enough.
My CTL I bought from their merch person is messed up. It starts halfway through the opening Big Casino riff and it throws me off every time.
Yep. Jason is right. PYD is a big moody 5 minute long song. Nostalgic, yet still so fresh and perfect for this Fall weather. And I gotta say, Zach and Rick may not be super flashy, but goddamn they are always so precise and efficient as a percussion section. Fingers crossed for another full length after putting out two bangers.
I think my copy does the same thing as well. I remember putting it on and thinking I must have rpm set too fast before it was actually set appropriately
