Today's episode of Clarity includes an interview with Paul Drake and has some great reminiscence from their early years as a band. He was their tour manager after they did the split with Christie Front Drive through when they got dropped from Capitol. He's also got a treasure trove of photos from the road on his IG. He also took a lot of the band's promo images in the early days including the original Static Prevails vinyl artwork photo.

Man, do I need this Jimmy Eat World performance tonight. It’s great since I already know they are gonna kill it. It’s just par for the course.
Splurged and bought Chase this Light on vinyl this morning. My collection will be complete once everything is delivered.
Jim played under the weather with a chest thing of some sort that had been building up for weeks and they had to call the show after about an hour. Would have never known he was sick until he said something. Great as always.
Oh no! That makes me nervous tomorrow will be cancelled :( Hope he’s feeling better regardless! Never fun.
he was struggling a bit at the end of his range in cleveland, but i just figured it was the start of the tour and he wasn’t quite warmed up yet
Yeah, I looked at their touring schedule afterwards and it’s unforgiving this weekend. Hopefully if anything is cancelled, it gets rescheduled. It wasn’t until 4-5 songs before they ended that Jim told us he was in bad shape and that he’d go on as long as possible. A couple songs later he asked if we’d ever been to an Emo Nite since it was about to turn into one with everyone helping him sing along to “Sweetness” and “The Middle”.
I think that might be my favorite JEW song. It’s a song I have to listen to whenever it comes on and it comes on a lot for me lol.
Jim’s signature guitar is so rad. Super happy Fender keeps producing it. -it’s so unique given it has Gibson specs and Seymour Duncan p90’s. -the color options are awesome. -the guitar has a timeless look. -It appeals to everyone and not just JEW fans. -Jim actually plays the EXACT model and not some expensive custom version. -it’s still super affordable and accessible for people. Jim and Fender knocked it out of the park.
i don’t love the pickups but it’s a good guitar, for sure, and there are dozens of good cheap p90 replacements on the market
An absolute class act. This band forever has grace and humility and it makes me love them that much more.
They are probably the most professional band I've seen live tbh. Not that other hands haven't been, but they're always right on time and sound impeccable so their high standards are definitely noticed and I hope he feels better soon
One time I missed a fall out boy show in boise because a hay truck caught on fire on the highway and all access from my town to boise was blocked off. Still bitter.
I saw Jim’s guitar in the wild today and had to play it I’m a drummer, but I can tell you it played like a goddamn dream.
I have the TC-90, the guitar Jim's signature is based on, and it's an absolute monster. Cool to see he kept a lot of the same specs.
