I kind of wish it was later in the track list, too. Since it’s my favorite off the album, it’s kind of all downhill from there. Not to say any of the others are bad or anything. But it’s weird for my enjoyment to peak on the opener.

 

I’m just confused, is it not a good opener or is the album not good enough for it to be wasted as an opener for it? In both cases I vehemently disagree

 

Are you disappointed every time your favorite track on an album is the opener?

 

What other song on Invented works as an opener? Maybe "Movielike"? I think "Heart" is the perfect starting point on that record.

 

Grand Paradise is my favorite song of all time and it’s the opener of NMG. Futures and Run Away From Me (Carly Rae Jepsen) are also in my top 5 and track 1s

 

I dont think it functions well as an opener.
The song itself is fine.

 

I can’t really think of another album that I feel that way. So, I’m not sure. And disappointed is probably too strong a word. I’m this case a lot of the other songs just don’t hit me as much so even with songs rearranged I’m not sure I’d really feel that different.

 

It’s a great opener though?

 

I like Anais as the opener.

I don't particularly like that song and am glad it's not on the album, so I'd disagree on that front.

Yeah that’s baffling to me

 

It’s legitimately one of the best openers ever on any album it’s just perfect, sets up the mood and is an all around impenetrable song I’ve never seen any complaints like this about it

 

It just seems so jarring to go from it to My Best Theory.
It always seemed a bit boring to me as an opener. Personally I just like more bang as an opener in general.

It's great. Marvelous detail work in the production, too. It's one of the reasons Invented is my favorite-sounding Jimmy Eat World record.

I have no qualms with how any of their records start, though. Pretty unimpeachable run of openers.
