The last album of theirs I heard was Damage, but I think their two best albums are Bleed American and Invented. Not sure which is better. Probably Clarity right afterward, then a tie between Futures and Chase This Light. Both have really good songs, but half of them are boring. I like Static Prevails, but I'd never throw it on for fun The problem with Jimmy Eat World is the ratio of incredible to boring songs is about 40-60
I am still not a Damage guy. I probably like Invented more than most. Integrity Blues is a great late-career album. Surviving is fine. But the BA, Futures, CTL run is one of my favorite three-album runs in this entire genre. I like Clarity a lot too, but not nearly as much as everyone else.
I think Integrity Blues is the most *interesting* listen. They take some really cool tone and textural chances on it and I think it pays off.
Revisited Integrity Blues the other day and I always forget just how transcendent the title track is.
IB is incredible. It’s my favorite post Futures work, though CTL is a close second. Sonically, it feels like the natural progression from Futures and CTL, so I’ve always wished that was the album we got in 2010. That being said, I still adore the hell out of Invented and I’m glad we got it.
Clarity Futures Chase This Light Static Prevails Bleed American meh, like songs here and there from the rest but none of the albums
Futures Clarity Integrity Blues Chase This Light Bleed American (Invented / Surviving) Damage i havent listened to Static enough to give it a fair rating
for as long as i've known you you've been the best measure of my taste so i'm gonna give it some more spins this weekend. i actually was listening to it at work this week but got interrupted halfway through lol
there are literally like, maybe MAYBE a handful of boring songs from clarity to surviving, no more than like 5 and even then im having trouble thinking of more than like two
My bad Jimmy Eat World take: I really wish they'd take Hear You Me off their setlist. Never liked it. Cloying.
gonna get real for a second..... I'm a massive JEW fan, but the one record I have never clicked with is Invented. I really want to like that record but I feel it has never measured up to the rest. Its the only JEW record I don't own on vinyl.
Really liked Invented when it came out, then cooled on it for a few years, but have really come to enjoy it more than ever before the last handful of years. I really like how big and anthemic it sounds at times. Heart is Hard to Find, Evidence, Movielike, Littlething, and Invented are some absolutely great songs in their discography
