Since I never got a proper Surviving show in NYC, would be happy to have plenty of those songs in the set this fall
i must have woken up in an alternate universe because i was under the impression all jimmy eat world fans love all their albums
They sort of feel like they may have tested this out when they released half heart/love never, although they didn’t really promote them as singles. The fact David’s done a podcast for basically every song shows that fans have value in every tack they’ve released. I’m gonna enjoy every single, and try and appreciate that they want to switch up their approach for a bit as a reset….but please please continue making batch releases like albums and eps because there is a listening experience there that as a fan, a single can’t fill.
I admit I was initially bummed that an album wasn't immediately forthcoming because I cherish the art of albums so much and I loved the direction of Something Loud. That said, I had to be honest with myself. As fans, we have been SO spoiled for SO long with consistent, top notch albums every 3 years. I should feel so lucky that my favorite band of all time has consistently released music that has grown up with me. And I do. I will still wish there was an album coming this fall, but I am so happy Zach and the guys are creating and sharing anything at all. And I am happy they are acknowledging the consequences and limitations that resulted from the pandemic and doing what they think is right. These guys don't miss. I can't wait to hear Place Your Debts. See you on the road in a couple months!
I wonder how many singles they have planned? I’m gonna compile them like an EP and listen the heck out of them anyway. Something Loud is an awesome song and has an album single feel. Excited for Debts.
Remember the 2000 “singles” “album” is just a comp with songs like these. In some respects it’s kinda cool to see the 2022 version of their ‘90s under-the-capitol-radar single releases (they released most of those 7” without any approval or input from Capitol because they were so hands-off with the band - so rad) that said, would love to see these pressed as 7” (or even released as “digital“ 7”s?) with next-gen bands that might be in the Phoenix area or are friends. They had a local make their something loud video which I suppose is the 2022 version of that but couple it with a release we may not have checked out had it not been backed with a JEW single.
Listen, even if we get a 5 song EP let’s remember how effing AMAZING the Stay on My Side Tonight EP is and the glorious bangers that exist on that. I am so incredibly excited for what’s to come and can’t wait for this Fall run of shows! Everything these guys put out is top notch and they’re 100% at the top of their game right now.
Could tell the interviewer was (understandably) nervous and I thought it was great. Nothing new shared but a bit more in-depth explanation for their approach to new music and fun discussion about early band days.
According to the subreddit it was up on tidal for a bit yesterday in some countries but was subsequently taken down not long after.

Something Loud is really good so hopefully it’s just a small push. Get enough of these singles to eventually slap together our own “Singles EP” where everyone can debate their personal track list.
I knew the song was coming. I didn’t know when. And I know others will do what you’re saying. I just said I won’t.
