I had this whole plan to get the poster framed and already had the perfect spot for it, but not sure I want to pay that extortionately high price. When the shipping works out to be one and a half times the actual merch, it's a no from me.
I love how much fun the band is having with this. I love how stoked their fans are. I love that they’re playing 3 power house albums. I love JEW. I love love.
What songs are we most excited to see in the live stream tomorrow? Is there anything on Futures that isn't in the regular rotation?
Kill, Polaris, and 23 are the 3 best songs. So I’m looking forward to those the most. but Just Tonight is one of two I never saw live
I’m most excited for Nothingwrong (never seen it live) and Polaris (because it’s my favorite song on the album).
Most excited for “the world you love.” That song and Polaris occupy the same spot that “if you don’t, don't” does - never singles but some of their very best work.
Also, my photo tonight caught Tom mid-bite of what was surely a rushed dinner and it looks like he absolutely hated talking to me, which only makes this funnier.
Looking forward to Futures tomorrow. Honestly, after the Surviving stream, I've learned my lesson though: Streaming on my TV from my laptop was fun and all, but I found that ripping the show and saving it to my Plex, so that I can play it on any TV in my house, was much a much better experience in terms of quality when rewatching it that way. Now that I know it isn't "live," I might just let my first experience of the show be in this format. If they would have delivered it on a more TV-friendly app/format, I would just watch it in the moment and not think about saving it for repeat viewings. Maybe Chromecast would offer the same experience, but I don't have one, unfortunately - just smart TVs and Amazon Firesticks.
Night Drive has always been one of my favorite songs. I don't think it had ever been played until the Futures Album shows, so this is the one I'm most looking forward to. I also wish they were doing a Stay On My Side Tonight encore, just so I can hear another favorite of mine, Over.
Just Tonight was the song that got me into the band (it was on the soundtrack for Burnout 3: Takedown), so I am VERY pumped to finally hear it played live.
The first time I listened to Futures was on my portable CD player at the school library. So there’s that.
I bought the Japanese import (with the second CD of demos) from a used cd shop my junior year of college in 2006. It was my first Jimmy Eat World album, outside of my older sister listening to Bleed American all the time when it came out. In hindsight, I was at one of the lowest points in my life - too much drinking, not doing my school work, experiencing unrequited love for someone not at my school, and feeling true depression for the first time in my life. Futures took my breath away on first listen and I was an instant fan. "Kill", "The World We Love", "Polaris", and especially "23" hit me in all the right places and I related to the songs instantly. I regrettably missed the Futures anniversary tour because my band at the time had a show so tonight feels like a redemption of sorts. I welcome Jim, Zach, Tom, and Rick into my home and I can't wait to spend the evening watching the album with the love of my life next to me on the couch.
