my best theory was a decent enough hit to remind me the band existed after the middle and led to me being a fan so I’m okay with it
i like "action" but i don't think having a throwback to the clarity sequencing served the album that invented is
Drop Coffee and Cigarettes and Action Needs An Audience and Invented as a whole gets bumped up in my album rankings.
Wow, I think Coffee and Cigarettes is my favorite song on there. But I can't stand a few I know people like so it's all good.
I don't think any of their records are sequenced too badly. I think they often start off pretty weird though
the placement of let it happen and electable bother me but gotta be somebody’s blues in the middle of the album instead of the end is a crime
Big Casino -> Let It Happen is the same as Futures -> Just Tonight. It fits perfectly as the second track. Surviving -> Criminal Energy also fits this
The interesting thing for me as a huge fan (and I agree Kyle, certainly one of the if not the most consistent band - especially live) is that I am almost completely enamored by a jimmy song (like “holy shit, classic”) or an absolute pass. For some reason my body won’t allow middle of the road stuff from this band lol
Will never understand the distaste for My Best Theory. Without that song, the album has no lead single. Song was a hit and it is really catchy. Nothing wrong with that. Easily the most memorable riff on the album.
A record of my least favorite JEW songs would still be better than, like, 99.9% of whatever else gets put out by any currently-active artists
That’s... kind of how I feel as well. I think it’s a highlight on a very bland record. I’m happy there’s a group of fans on here that have clung hard to it, but it’s definitely one of the times where this website has a group of fans with unpopular opinions that I just cannot get behind lol. I always say that I love riffy, catchy jimmy eat world, and outside of a couple songs, this album doesn’t have anything for me. Even after I try to revisit it from time to time, it just falls flat. Maybe our ears are broken.
