eek...Integrity Blues is the last one on my list... Clarity Futures Bleed America Invented ....and then it gets blurry from here... Static Prevails Damage Chase This Light Integrity Blues Surviving- too soon to tell but I'm thinking right below invented.
Dude, again its an opinion. Even I like Invented more than their other stuff. Its all about how well you connect with something, I found Invented at the time when I needed it and it clicked with me more than the others did. (Btw this thread is turning into unpopular music opinions. Lol)
I can't even listen to these guys right now because I'm just waiting for the show to get canceled or postponed and I'm super bummed
ha, i was quoting a funny line from Office Space. Clearly i disagree with you, but I dont really care that much.
Finally got around to listening to and discussing Chase This Light with my friend. Little bit of a side story, but I remember seeing this album on absolutepunk back when it came out (I dug the album cover). Listened to it a tad, but wasn't much of a Jimmy Eat World fan back then outside of The Middle. But it always stuck with me as my first real "exposure" to the band. So in that sense, the album has a special meaning to me. Favorite tracks: Big Casino, Chase This Light, Dizzy, Be Sensible, Gotta Be Somebody's Blues. Just putting it out there, but Big Casino is probably my favorite Jimmy Eat World song of all time. I just love the energy that it has. After listening to the album, I would still put Futures right above Chase This Light. I think Futures is obviously the better album, but I kind of enjoy Chase This Light a tad more (if that makes sense). We are on to Invented next, which I have only listened to once.
Awesome story, and I can relate to it. My preferences for the albums change depending on my mood, and except for Static Prevails and the 1994 self-titled, each of their albums could be my favorite at any time, as a result. This is another album where it's very difficult to decide on top tracks. But if I had to choose, my top tracks on CTL are: "Always Be," "Carry You," "Gotta Be Somebody's Blues," "Here It Goes" (my favorite song of theirs), "Chase This Light," and "Dizzy" Shout-out to "Open Bar Reception," too.
That polka rendition looks like something off of Arrested Development. Kids look like they don't want to be there in his videos and they're absolutely hilarious.
Wow. Another "Here It Goes" lover! I've always thought that was Jimmy Eat World doing pop at an expert level. The hook is just massive in that song. Chase This Light was my favourite for so long - it still could be (as you said) depending on my mood. God I love this band
I feel Chase This Light is sort of the opposite to Futures like I Surviving is the opposite to Integrity Blues. Futures is black and white, sort of a deep in thought record. Chase This Light is bright and colourful. It’s got a little more bounce and pop, sweet feeling. My favourite two Jimmy records and love them both for different reasons.
To ride off that, Futures lyrically provides a lot of optimism within those dark moments (Futures, World You Love, etc.) while Chase This Light is renowned for its deceptively morose content.
Listened to Invented last night. I'll start off by saying that it is probably my least favorite of the albums up to this point (not to say it's bad or anything). I didn't mind most of the songs while listening, but it wasn't until the end of the album when things finally picked up for me a bit. Favorites: Invented, Mixtape, Heart Is Hard To Find That last section of Invented (the song) is top tier Jimmy Eat world in my opinion. Mixtape is another great album closer (they always seem to nail this). I also kind of dug Action Needs An Audience, but wouldn't necessarily put it with my favorites from the album. Also, does anyone else think that it sounds like Patrick Stump singing in My Best Theory? So again, not a bad album by any means. Just the weakest up to this point.
I think sonically, pass the baby is very similar to the title track Invented. Both start slow and seem to end quiet and then there is that massive breakdown. Love both of them.
Invented, like Damage, had to grow on me, but I really love it now. I think it was my second Jimmy Eat World album that I chose to listen to on vinyl. (That reminds me, I need to have a vinyl discography day soon to help me relax.) My favorites (I'm aware most people dislike some of these): "Heart Is Hard to Find," "My Best Theory," "Higher Devotion," "Stop," "Cut," "Invented," and "Mixtape." I also really like "Action Needs an Audience" too - we're in the same boat.
