It's ridiculous how true this is. Damage (which I think is their weakest since Clarity), would be my favorite album by most bands I listen to. And it just depends on the day which record I connect with the most. They're just second to none.
Hearing Futures for the first time was incredible. It was such an exciting experience. I wish I could go back and experience that again!
I just realized that I haven't heard the studio version of Anais since the week Invented came out. Still listen to the demo all the time though.
One of my favorite JEW moments: when it breaks down to just the guitar in the bridge of Get It Faster, then the rest of the band comes in to jam. Gets me every time.
the eye lasers lyric gets a lot of grief but I genuinely think what he generally does on invented (fluctuating between gazes and perspectives) is very considered and effective damage is also maybe the most empathetic breakup record ever
If you count all the songs that wound up on Stay on My Side Tonight, Futures absolutely had the best b-sides. Chase This Light is a not-too-distant second though.
I enjoy Jen, but it's not my favorite. Actually kind of wish they had left it off the record to be honest.
Listened to CTL and Futures a few times each today and I'm enjoying them a lot. I really do get a lot of Motion City vibes from CTL, even the vocals sound like Justin to me at times. It's also funny how both tracklistings have my favourites (3,4,11) and least favourites (6,7) in the same place. I might check out Bleed American tonight too which I've never even heard, interested to see how I feel about that album since I love Sweetness but I don't really like The Middle at all.
To which album? or both? haha. I still like all of the songs, it's just those are usually the songs I enjoy the least on both albums.
Both haha. Feeling Lucky and Pain are among my favorites on those albums, and Drugs or Me and Blues are both excellent songs as well. Actually though, I have the same thing between the two. Least favorite is track 9 in both cases. 4 and 8 are both probably in my top three on both albums too. Funny how that works.
Also to jump into the conversation that happened like 5 pages ago after listening to each song about 4 times I like Dizzy more than 23, haha.
I didn't check out Bleed for a long time because 'The Middle' was that annoying song from high school to me. It's still probably one of my least favorites on the album, but it actually fits well with the rest of the record and no longer bothers me at all. I wish one of their other songs was what hit big, but more than anything, I'm just glad they had a hit they can still make money off of.
I like The Middle a lot, but I really don't like Sweetness, it's super annoying. It's worse coming after four songs I really love too.
Lol this conversation cracks me up, because these are my 1a and 1b songs in JEW's catalog and it's funny that it's a debate. They're both the best song ever, and on my playlists, I usually have one starting and one ending since they're my favorites. I honestly don't think I could choose.
