I don't have any tats, but I'm not big on having lyric tats so I'd prob go w/ the phone booth from Futures. That album still means a lot to me.
I can back this. The typical favorite that I think is overrated (though I like Futures much, much more than CTTM)
But overall, I do think comparing the two bands is like comparing an amazing band to a much worse band
For Me This Is Heaven Ten Just Watch The Fireworks Cautioners A Praise Chorus If You Don't, Don't 23 Kill Futures Let It Happen Big Casino Dizzy Appreciation Damage How'd You Have Me Edit: how did I forget Invented?? Heart Is.. Invented Stop
Okay I'm going to give this a shot. Just Watch The Fireworks A Sunday Blister A Praise Chorus If You Don't, Don't My Sundown The World You Love 23 Futures Carry You Firefight Chase This Light Invented Littlething Coffee & Cigarettes Damage Lean I Will Steal You Back I will admit, just in the past few months Damage has really started clicking with me, so my top 3 for that are definitely more up in the air than the others
I feel like in a lot of ways, MCS and JEW are comparable. There are some major differences in songwriting style and approach, etc., but their discographies are both essentially perfect, and I think they're both criminally underrated by the population at large. (Full disclosure: these are two of my favorite four or five bands. I can't imagine seeing a big divide between them, or using one to bash the other or whatever. To me, they're intertwined if only for how much I've listened to them both)
I think Damage is fantastic, but I can also see it taking time to click with people. There's a definite less-produced aestetic that's on the record, setting apart from all their post-Clarity work, and it's essentially a concept album lyrically. It's still a fantastic, top shelf album, but it definitely has a different vibe all the way around than their other stuff that initially takes some getting used to.
I love that Let It Happen has been consistent in their live shows despite being a deep cut. Definitely top 5 for me.
Ok ok ok, I've been way too hard on Futures lately and I'm not sure why. Its a true masterpiece, second only to Clarity.
I'm happy about this too. I originally was going to post "Kenneth :3" but I felt like it might have been too spammy. Idk haha
Every Jimmy Eat World album is the best album ever, it just depends on which best album ever you think is the best album ever Debate over, you're welcome
Jim is just such a great lyricist. He might be simplistic sometimes, but he's very consistent and can tug at heart strings like no other. Watching live videos he's got a lot of Springsteen in him. This is also another band that has the 3rd guitarist/keyboardist dynamic live. That would be my dream job tbh.
