Definitely didn't mean it as hostile at all! I'm just confused about why @CoffeeEyes17 has suddenly decided to bash Futures any chance he gets! What did Futures do to you Ken?!?
i still love Futures! Its just about a flawless album! I just think Clarity, CTL, and possibly Damage are sliiiiiightly better. slightly. 23 is still an incredible song. I've even come around on Night Drive which I used to really dislike.
Ken just likes Dizzy more and I get that. Both are incredible songs and among the best I've ever heard. With that said, I'm still on team 23.
Dizzy is my favorite JEW song. It gets me every time. 23/Fireworks/Invented are still phenomenal songs though.
I'd put Damage sixth overall, but it's still a damn good album and I'm about to give it a listen now.
I'm with Ken on Just Watch The Fireworks. I get more of an emotional response to just the opening lines to that song than anything else in this band's catalog, which is saying a lot because this band is one of the most consistent bands I can think of when it comes to writing emotionally driven songs. There's something just so incredibly powerful and beautiful to me about that song. It's one of my absolute favorite pieces of music ever.
I prefer Futures to Clarity, but that isn't saying much because one is my #2 record of all time while the other is #5.
I'd like to formally apologize to my pals @Craig Manning and @FTank you guys were not coming off hostile at all I've just had a weird day coupled with starting a vegetarian diet has made me a bit cranky lol. Much love to you both. So the first 5 songs of Futures are incredible huh
No need to apologize brother. To be fair, ranking this band's catalog is probably more difficult for me than any other artist, save maybe Butch Walker. We're talking about world class songs and albums on all sides here.
I feel like you're forgetting something there but I can't quite put my finger on it. Eh, just thinking, that's all.
Oh and if I had to pick my top 3 non-album tracks, I'd go with Roller Queen, No Sensitivity and Be Sensible. Honorable mention to Open Bar Reception.
For any band to make two albums as soul-shatteringly good as Clarity and Futures is pretty rare. Then you throw in Bleed American and Chase This Light and it's like, who did they sell their souls to in order to get such talent. We all have our personal rankings but I think it's safe to say we all hold JEW in the highest possible regard. This band is now and always will be one of the greatest of all time.
No Sensitivity, Distraction and Open Bar Reception. covers: Spangle, Last Christmas and Take 'Em As They Come
I wish they would release a B-Sides album. I'm really bad about ignoring b-sides/bonus tracks, with the exception of Alkaline Trio because they made it easy by putting out Remains.
Would I see you tonight At a place we go? Could going through the motions, lead to real emotion? I wanna make things right Before time runs out. It was like you said, the taste don't taste like it should Roll down the windows Let the cold air come in Slap my face just feel you somehow again, again.... one of the most hard hitting moments in music
