Ok after going to the show and experiencing the crowd, the setlist makes a lot more sense. At least at the Denver show, it’s a lot of older millennials that are there for 3EB and all probably think JEW is on a reunion tour haha.
The fans who supported these bands at the start? I’m actually only a Jimmy fan. Nothing against 3EB. Don’t mind them. I remember when semi charmed life was released back when those guys were just breaking through.
Yeah it just seemed like the crowd was in it for the nostalgia. Nothing wrong with that, just said it made the set list make more sense to me.
I could watch a setlist of them playing A Praise Chorus over and over and then coming back to a long encore of Polaris over and over and be perfectly content.
It’s amusing that fans of a band the rest of the world only remembers for The Middle only remember 3EB for Semi Charmed Life This is the best tour combo ever and you’re insane if you’re deliberately missing 3EB
yo maybe Damage is actually my fav JEW album, listening to it now and it’s honestly hitting harder than ever. The opening trio on this record is so ridiculously strong, three of probably like my top 10 songs by them in a row.
It was my first new JEW album as a full-fledged fan and not just a passive listener. I think it’s always had a special place for that alone, but I genuinely think it’s an incredible and under-appreciated gem in their discography. Appreciation prob gets my vote for their best opener
That was a breakup summer for me, so getting that album and the opening lyrics just set the whole thing up to hit hard with me. Love that guitar opening the record.
