does anyone have the link to that performance of No Sensitivity where Jim actually adds a cuss word? i think it was from 2007 but i could be wrong
I dunno, anyone expecting them to switch it up for a coheadline/main support for 3EB has to be a tad naive. A “greatest hits” set makes sense for no album to support, and I don’t want to make any broad assumptions, but my guess would be a majority of the crowds will be lukewarm/casual fans of their music. They’re such a spectacular live band, it honestly never bothers me seeing the same basic set each time. And trust me, my dream JEW set would include few of those 14 from last night.
Most of time times I have seen them the setlist is fairly similar but they're so great I never mind, tho I do get extra happy when they play Polaris. How was the crowd? I am sorta banking on most ppl being there for 3eb so that I can make my way up to the front during jew. My old lady back either has to be up front or leaning against a pole lol and I can't leave work early cause I have a mandatory thing
I wish more bands would throw in random b-sides to perform. Like I know they are lesser known songs and might get less reception live but man, hearing the live version of Flags Of Dawn by Thrice on their House Of Blues DVD was amazing.
my wife and I HATED the crowd last night. The tickets (after artist presale) were SO expensive and no one seemed into ANYTHING. 3EB went on and half our section was seated. I didn’t drag my family to the Greek and brave terrible parking and overpriced drinks to sit at a rock show. Thank goodness no one complained we were blocking their view. My son had a blast!
I'm glad your son had fun!! I have GA tickets so if there are any buzzkills around me they will have to DEAL
I’m with @Kiana — I’ll be singing every word at full volume in GA, so if anyone is buggin’, head to the back and remain still & quiet.
btw ive been listening to nothing but jimmy eat world this entire week. mostly chase this light and invented.
Crowds at summer amphitheater shows are almost always bad. So are crowds for 90s rock band shows, where most of the people there know maybe five songs. Add the co-headline element and you’re probably not getting any good crowds for the JEW part of this show, unfortunately.
Like I said, I don't expect them to switch things up on a co-headline tour where they are essentially the opener. But even on their album support tours, they tend to lean less into their new albums than other bands. I saw them a couple times on the Invented tour and I think they played maybe 4-5 songs from that album across the two shows. Integrity Blues was a bit better represented when they toured in 2016/2017, but like, I don't think they've ever played "Pol Roger" live and that's one of their best ever. And meanwhile, Bleed American has probably 5-6 guaranteed slots in every show they ever play. It would just be nice to see them dig a bit deeper in their discography and pull out some surprises. They've got the songs, and I've never gotten the impression from the shows I've been to that the crowds were just there to hear the hits.
I remember seeing 3EB and Dashboard at a Harrahs casino and everyone sat most of the time. It was so weird, but the bands killed it.
I am right there with you, 100%. I just meant that I would have been shocked to see a set of varying deep cuts over what’s been selected. Im not sure how these set lists are determined, but it feels very “business of usual” for this run, a conservatively catered set for, I guess, a tempered crowd there for 3EB more than Jimmy? Oh, and if I ever get to hear “Pol Roger” live and somehow don’t melt to the floor, that would be incredible. They could play all their longer songs for the entire set, and I would just be trying not to shit myself with excitement. Anyway, it also bums me out that they ignore Invented, but I suppose I wasn’t expecting more than what they’re currently offering. Save the great shit for the upcoming headline run when the new record drops. #PrayForPolRoger
4-5 songs from the most recent album is the standard for almost every band i follow on headlining sets following an album release. bands that do more are the outliers in my opinion
They ignore Invented and they ignore Damage. Those two aren't my favorite JEW releases, but I'd love to see "Movielike" or "Mixtape" or "How'd You Have Me" pop up at some point. Instead, it's "My Best Theory" and "I Will Steal You Back" and probably nothing else from those albums. And again, I don't expect a summer amphitheater tour with 3EB to be when they start tossing deep cuts into the set, but for a headlining show that's primarily going to be long-time fans, why not? Especially since they're (rightfully) pushing toward 30-song sets at this point.
