I do know why It’s the chorus. Standard JEW key change fare. The verses are awesome and a stellar buildup to what I wish was something bigger But most people disagree and that’s cool cause the album was the balls
what everyone needs to do sometime is to go to a beach at night in the winter and walk along the water in the dunes to this song, it's an Experience
I saw Jimmy Eat World at T in the Park in 2005 and they made my weekend. Introduced my friend that day, too.
you ever realize futures starts with back to back bangers then work through the world you love leaves you a weeping mess on the floor
“Pol Roger” is great but I have a hard time saying it’s one of their best closers when they’ve literally closed records with 23, Dizzy, My Sundown, You Were Good, etc.... like how are all of these even possible?! Incredible.
This is the hardest decision of my life. I love Pol Roger but Goodbye Sky Harbor is just uuuuuguhghuguhuguh that good as a closer.
In terms of closers, I couldn’t put “Pol Roger” above fourth, and maybe not above fifth, and that is not at all a slight against it. Still a perfect song, it just ain’t “23” or “Dizzy.” I don’t think any band/artist ever has a pair of closers that are that good.
Dizzy, 23, and Pol Roger are their holy trinity of closers. Not coincidentally, those songs come from their holy trinity of albums.
Here It Goes is maybe the most underrated song in their entire discrography. One of the catchiest songs I've heard in my entire life.
CTL/Futures IB Invented Bleed American Damage Clarity But really, any of these rankings could change at any time and I'd be 100% ok with it.
I'm also in the "I love Pol Roger, but I'm also not sure I can rank it any higher than their third or fourth best closer because they're so good at writing closers" camp. Though, I also think they could've left it off all together, and I'd talking about Integrity Blues as one of their best closers. I don't know that I can think of a more consistently great band than JEW.
idgaf goodbye sky harbor is too long and is eliminated for best closer on that basis. I get super impatient with it and when people were hoping for the full version on the clarity tour like nnmn only if someone brings me a stool for the next fifteen minutes
There are people who don't listen to all 16 minutes of Goodbye Sky Harbour? I get that the instrumental coda bit is twice as long as the actual song, yeah, but the electronic drums payoff (that fill!!) and that whole explosion is SO worth it.
